May 27, 2024 · I then reinstalled the app, and while there's still a singular Windows Host Process Rundll32 in my background processes, as there should be since it's a crucial Windows background tool, it hasn't started mindlessly multiplying. I'd say the problem has been solved for the time being. Thank you for this reply, it saved my sanity.

I’ve been facing an unusual issue with my Windows laptop over the past few weeks. After powering on the system, I noticed multiple instances of the rundll32.exe process running in the Task Manager. Initially, 3–4 instances appear, which seems normal.

May 4, 2024 · The diagnostic that FRST gave me was that my Nvidia container that was running it the background had kept restarting and failed, which led to the rundll32 files re-opening to try and run the container, though this wasnt the case. It was just a corrupted file in system32. hope this can help other people

Oct 21, 2016 · Why is there a Windows Host Process (Rundll32) in my Startup tab in Task Manager? I'm not sure if this is a Windows 10 default action, or if it came from some program I installed. Shouldn't rundll32.exe start automatically if it's needed? It's not a virus, I'm positive it's the official exe in System32. I'm just curious, wondering why it's there.
