Aug 5, 2020 · Well, you created 4 threads all revolving around fear of owning a radium watch, why others aren't (but should be) afraid of owning a radium watch, refused to listen to other members and challenged their advice, got temporarily suspended from posting as a result, created a thread on how to DIY remove the radium lume, and now this thread...
Ebay removed all of my radium dialed watches??? - Omega Forums
Jun 8, 2024 · If I post watches in the future, which I will, and I use the words "original lume" who at ebay would be able to prove the lume is hazardous? They can't right? The rep said I can continue to post watches as long as no radium or tritium are used. But I fear I will have a buyer who knows nothing about watches and reports I sold them a radium watch.

Oct 11, 2021 · I do agree that radium dialed watches should be stored separately from non-radium watches and in a well ventilated non-living space to avoid any possible buildup of radon gas. And don't ever attempt do-it-yourself service on a watch with a radium dial -- leave it to a watchmaker who has the relevant experience, tools and safety equipment to do ...

Jan 6, 2024 · These are all relevant to Swiss watches, BTW, Japanese watches did not use anything radioactive AFAIK. Ultimately, a Geiger counter reading will tell the difference. Radium dials vary a lot in their emission, but they're always well above background, by a minimum of 5x-10x if you hold the sensor close to the crystal (and sometimes much more!).
LumiNova vs Tritium vs Radium in watches | Omega Watch Forums
Jul 7, 2020 · Radium has a 1,600 year half-life, so that 1920 watch with the radium dial is virtually as radioactive as the day it was made. Super-luminova is superior, IMHO, at getting the job done safely. It definitely lasts and continues working better …

The Ts next to the Swiss Made signifies Tritium but it may be the case that a model doesn’t have the Ts and still be Tritium. I am not an expert in watches or for that matter vintage omega.
Is This A Radium Paint Dial Watch?? - Omega Forums
Jun 28, 2018 · In view of a recent disturbing report on Radon gas radiation from Radium paint on vintage clocks and wrist watches I want to know whether this 1962 Longines Flagship automatic watch has Radium paint on hands and on minutes markers or not. Any information that’s helpful to vintage watch owners with respect to that report is highly appreciated.
Radium dials and hands - remove, restore and relume? Advice …
Mar 11, 2024 · Seriously, I am mindful of the dangers associated with the buildup of radon gas from a collection of radium dialed watches stored in a confined space. The same goes for the inhalation of airborne particles of disintegrated radium lume. Hint: leave the servicing of these watches to a professional.
Wearing Radium. | Omega Watch Forums - Omega Forums
Jan 14, 2021 · Will you not buy a radium piece because of anxiety. Personally, I own 9 radium watches. They are among my most beautiful watches. I no longer keep them in a safe with my other watches because of radon buildup and keep them out in ventilated areas in various places. I also tend to wear radium watches only about once/week.
Radium. | Omega Watch Forums - Omega Forums
Aug 23, 2013 · Radium can be dangerous, but more for the watchmaker than for the person wearing the watch. I am very careful when working on a watch that still has radium paint on the hands or dial. For the most part, the movement and case will block the radiation, and the crystal will also, so generally speaking they are safe to wear.
